Taking place on Friday 5 June 2009 at 7.30pm, the Viaduct Theatre, Dean Clough, Halifax, West Yorkshire, UK and on Friday 12 June and Saturday 13 June 2009 at 8.00pm, New Workshop Theater, Brooklyn College, New York, USA.

What is GI60 and how can you be involved?


Now in its sixth international year Screaming Media Productions in association with Dean Clough Mill, Brooklyn College, Hull College, Leeds Metropolitan University and BBC Big Screen are proud to present GI60 (Gone in 60 Seconds) the world's only international, downloadable, one minute play festival.

In June 2009 one hundred brand new pieces of theatre will be performed, fifty in the UK at The Viaduct Theatre, Dean Clough Mill, Halifax and and fifty in the US at The New Workshop Theater, Brooklyn College. Each venue will premiere fifty new plays, each lasting no more than sixty seconds.

Actors at Brooklyn College and in Halifax will perform the plays, which will be recorded and then made available for viewing or download via the internet. Selected pieces will also be screened on the BBC Big Screen in Leeds .

Who can apply?


GI60 is open to everybody; all you need is an idea and an internet connection. In the last five years the GI60 festival has premiered 500 new pieces of work written by people of all ages and backgrounds from around the world. So If you have an idea or something to say, why not write a play?

Deadline for submissions for GI60 2009 is midnight May 15th.

The Rules:


• Plays must last no longer than 60 seconds
• All work must be totally original and the author's own work
• All submissions must be sent by email and must include your name, address and location before the title of your work:
• Individuals may submit as many one minute plays as they wish (one submission per email).
• Entries from schools must include the name of the school and a teachers contact details in addition to the name of the author.
• All submissions must be emailed to: screammedia@yahoo.com


Terms and conditions:
• Copyright remains with the author
• Plays will be made available for download on Youtube after the event
• Plays will only be performed as part of 'Gone in 60 Seconds'
• Plays lasting longer than 60 seconds will not be considered
• The organisers reserve the right to choose the venue for performance
• The organisers may use individual plays to promote the GI60 festival for a period of one year after the festival
• All successful authors will be contacted prior to the event to confirm their acceptance as participants
• There is no submission fee or payment for selected plays
• The organisers reserve the right to cut scripts where necessary
